FAQS

Q

How does one begin a custom build?

The first step is contacting John and discussing your particular interest, your playing styles, the type of tone you are looking for, and the options that you are interested in. After that process is undertaken, an order form is filled out and an estimate is prepared, a down payment is made, and the project begins.

Q

How long does it take to complete a special order?

Generally it takes about 4 to 5 months.

Q

What are the “Options”?

I provide my customers with a range of options including - woods, colors, bindings, inlays,  pickups, neck widths and profiles, and different models. Some options are easy and others are more complex. Estimates are given for custom inlay projects or more complicated requests.

Q

How does one read the instrument's serial number?

The first two numbers are sequential for the total number of instruments that I have completed. The second two numbers are the month that particular  instrument was completed and the last 2 numbers are the year in which it was completed.  Serial number 440816 would be the 44th instrument, completed in August of 2016.
